By the time I was up, a light drizzle had started, and it continued throughout the day. Winds were fairly calm. The clouds lifted a bit at times, revealing snow down to 1500 feet or so on the mountains.
I spent a little time out today to see what I could see. I found the Northern Flicker in the same area it’s been. Once again, foraging in the grass. I wonder what it’s finding?
At the kelp patch turnaround, there were three Horned Grebes – I’ve not happened across many of those so far this year.
At Old Sitka, there were at leas a couple of Black Oystercatchers out on the beach, but I didn’t try too hard to get a better look than I had from the road. I did find my the first American Robin of the year foraging under the alders with three Varied Thrushes.
