Conditions were calm and cloudy today. There was some occasional rain, but it never seemed very hard.
I had errands to run today, and stopped by SEARHC to see if Pine Grosbeaks which had been reported there yesterday were still around. I was happy to see a couple feeding on fallen mountain ash berries in the lawn below a tree. My timing to see the birds was good, but not as good was my timing relative to others coming and going. By the time I was ready to take photos a couple of folks had walked by, and the birds were back up in the tree. A couple of males flew down to drink from a shallow puddle, and I was able to grab a couple of photos before a truck pulled in, and they retreated back up to the tree.
There was a Northern Flicker on the back lawn, and down in front of UAS was a pale immature gull. It’s either a Glaucous Gull, or possibly a Glaucous-winged X Glaucous Gull hybrid, I think.
Late in the afternoon (daylight-wise) I went out to Sawmill Cove with Rowan. It was much calmer than yesterday, but not many birds. It was too dim for me to see well enough to tell what was out on the bay when I stopped at the larger pullout on our return, though there were at least a couple of birds out there.
