I made a couple of short trips today –
Connor spent time over on Japonski Island and found a Common Redpoll or two mixed in a small flock of Pine Siskins. I’ve not seen either species this year, so thought I would go look around.
I didn’t have a lot of time and did not find the flock of siskins (nor the redpolls). I did see a decent-sized flock of robins (15+) flying between a patch of alders and some smaller mountain ash trees in front of one of the newer SEARHC buildings.
This afternoon a friend and I stopped by south Halibut Point Rec.It felt pleasant where the sun was shining, but in the shade it was still quite cool. With only a short time before needing to get on to some other activities, we took a look at some of the lichens and bryophytes that were along the trail.
