A Wild Life

Today when I went down to the park it was sunny but there was still some ice on the ground.
When I was out on the breakwater, I saw some ducks, sea gulls and a great blue heron. The great blue heron was on the same post as the others were and it was standing on one leg.
When I was in the park, I saw some varied thrushes on the trail and in the bushes.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was low tide, and I saw some sea gulls out by the water.
When I was on the trail by the trail by the river, I saw some crows out on the beach along with some ducks. I also saw a squirrel in a tree by the trail.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw some ducks.
When I was on my way back home, I saw a squirrel, juncos and a collard dove in someones yard. I tried to get a photo of the collared dove, but it was behind branches and then it flew off.
Why hasn’t there been many collared doves around?
Why do birds stand on one leg sometimes?
Why was there still ice on the ground?

This morning I got up around 9:25 Rowan had gotten up and eaten just before me. I saw that there was some snow on the ground when I went up to the kitchen. I ate some cereal and then went back down into my bed room.

I sat on my bed listened to the radio and looked out the window for most of the time until I made lunch, but I did do some reading. I watched the juncos in the back yard run around and eat some of the bird feed that was out there I also watched them jump up onto the feeder and eat out of there as well.

When it was about 11:00am I went back up into the kitchen and started the bread dough that I was making for pizza which was what we were having for lunch.

After I started the pizza dough I went up stairs and got on the computer, and did some stuff. Then when the bell rang to let me know that the dough was ready I went down stairs, and turned on the oven to have it start heating up while I rolled out the pizza dough.

Once I got the pizza dough all rolled out I graded the cheese, and put the pizza in the oven for about 20 minutes.

Once the pizza was ready we ate lunch.

After we ate lunch I went back up on the computer, and did a couple of things then I got ready and left for the park

On my way down to the park it was snowing. I  walked out onto the breakwater looked around then headed for entrance of the park.

Once I got to the entrance of the park I walked into the forest, and headed for the end of the park.

By the time I got down to the end of the park it had stopped snowing and the sun had come out a little bit. I walked a long the top of the beach and worked my way towards the river mouth.

Once I got to the river I looked around a bit then headed back into the forest, and got back onto the trail and headed home.

Once I got home I went up and got on the computer. I did some stuff on the computer then a while later I left to do my paper route.

It was still light out when I left for my paper, but by the time I had gotten done with it it was pretty much dark.

Once I got home I went out and checked the mail then I went into the living room and started a fire. I sat there a tended the fire for a while then Rowan came down to do the dishes, so I went up and got on the computer and did a couple of things then I started working on my blog.

This morning around 8:50am I heard Rowan got up and go up stairs to eat breakfast a minute or two later Rowan poked me to tell my that some of the chickens had gotten out, so I got up got dressed, and went out to catch them. All the ones that were out came running towards me, so it was easy enough for me to catch them and put them back in the pen. When I walked around the pen to see how they had gotten out I saw that it looked like some one had tried to opened the gate, but it looked like the gate had gotten jammed a little bit, so it had only open enough for the chickens to get out. I closed and locked the gate again then went inside and had breakfast.

After breakfast I went into my room and read a little and listened to the radio a little, but mostly I looked out the window and watched the birds int the back yard.

Around noon I got up and went up the stairs and into the kitchen to start lunch. I was making tacos and I had just poled the meat out of the freezer that morning. I ran some hot water over the saran wrap, so that I could get the saran wrap off with out tearing it. I then put the meat in the skillet and turned on the stove top and cooked the meat. Then got the table set and dad came down and got the taco shells ready then we ate.

After we ate lunch I went down into my room for a bit then went up stairs on the computer. I did a few things on the computer then I got ready and went down to the park.

On my way down to the park it was sunny and there was a slite breeze, but it was nice out.

I walked down by the harbor, and then out onto the sea walk. I walked out on to the breakwater then headed for the entrance of the park.

Once I got to the entrance of the park I walked strait into the forest, and headed for the end of the park.

Once I got to the end of the park I walked along the upper part of the beach, and headed for the mouth of the river. I saw a few mallards and some gulls, but that was all so I went back into the forest and got on the trail and walked up to the estuary.

When I got up to the estuary I saw nine swans a few mallards some american wigeons some gadwalls and a couple of eurasian wigeon. I looked around for a few minutes then I headed on home.

Once I got home I went up on the computer did a few things then went down into my room listened to the radio and read some.

Later in the afternoon I went and did my paper route.

Once I was done with my paper route I went into my room for a bit then I went up stairs, and got on the computer did a couple of things then started doing my blog.

Today when I was going down to the park, it was sunny and cold, and there was some frost on the ground.
when I was nearing the end of the breakwater, I saw those fish in the water that I had seen before.
When I was at the end of the breakwater, I saw some ducks and a sea gull. I also saw a great blue heron that was on the post I had seen the other great blue herons standing on.
When I was nearing the battle site bench, I saw squirrel eating a pine cone on a tree branch.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was low tide, and I saw some sea gulls, crows and ravens out by the water.
When I was on on the trail by the trail by the river, I saw some crows out on the beach.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw some ducks.
When I was near the end of the park trail, I saw a squirrel alarming in the trees. I also saw a raven on a branch near the trail.
Why was the squirrel alarming?
Is that great blue heron the same one or a different one?
Why do the crows go out on the beach?

Today when I went down to the park for the second time today, it was cloudy and a little bit cold.
When I was out on the breakwater, I saw some ducks and sea gulls. I also saw a great blue heron on a post out in the water.
When I was on the sidewalk by sage beach, I saw an eagle on the side of sage rock.
When I was in the park, I saw some ducks out on the water.
When I was nearing the battle site bench, I saw some harlequins, buffleheads and goldeneyes out in the water by the shore.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was high tide but there was a tiny bit of beach left and there were some ducks on it.
When I was on the trail by the trail by the river, I heard something that sounded like a seal or sea lion but I didn’t see one out in the water.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw nine swans, some ducks and a erasion wigeon on the other side of the river. I also saw some ducks on the side of the river I was on.
Starting from the trail by the river, I saw what looked like smoke to me for most of the rest of the way through the park.
Why was the eagle on the side of sage rock?
Why was the smoke in the forest?
Was someone having a fire somewhere and the smoke got blown into the park?

This morning on my way over to dads I see that it was raining out, but it was not windy. Rowan past me just before the indian river road bridge, and by the time I got home she had left to do her out side time.

Once I got home I went up stairs and did a few things on the computer. I then asked dad if I could go  down to the park. He said yes so I left.

Once I was on my way down to the park it had stopped raining. There was a little wind, but not much. I walked down by the harbor, and saw that the tide was out. I walked out on the boarded walk that went out onto the breakwater. Then I turned around and started making my way for the park.

Once I got to the parks entrance I went into the forest, and started down for the end of the park. I  decided not go out onto the beach because I felt like I would not find that much new stuff since I had already walked that part of the beach before looking for stuff, so I decided not to go out there.

It was still not raining by the time got out to the end of the park. I walked along the upper part of the beach, and sat down on a rock, and looked at the ducks that I saw out at the mouth of the river there my binoculars. I saw a few gadwalls, an american wigeon, and a few mallards. I then got up and walked back into the forest and got back on the trail.

Since the tide was out the only water in the estuary was the river. I walked down by the river, and walked up along the river bank. I saw a spotted sandpiper, but that was the only bird I saw there, but I did see a person with two dogs running around on the other side of the river.

I walked up and got back on the trail then I walked all the way up the river till almost the indian river road bridge then I turned and took a side trail and walked home, going through SJ campus on the way.

Once I got home I went down into my room and did some stuff  until I needed to make lunch.

Once I needed to make lunch I went up into the kitchen and put noodles into warm up.

After lunch I went up on the computer and did some stuff. Then I went down into my room and did a couple of thing then I went back up onto the computer. I was then up on the computer until it was almost time to do the paper route then I went down stairs and waited for the papers to arrive.

Once the papers had arrived I got ready, and went and did my paper route. It was still day light out when I did my paper route which I thought was interesting since it has been dark out for quite a while now when I do my paper route.

After I did my paper route I went up stairs and stared righting this blog.

When I was on the breakwater, I saw two ducks, some sea gulls, and a great blue heron on a post out in the water.
When I was on the side walk by sage beach, I saw some shore birds on the rocks.
When I was at the beginning of the park, I saw some seaweed on the grass.
When I was in the park, I saw some people and a dog out on the beach that was still out of the water.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was high tide.
When I was on the trail by the river, it was a bit more windy than it had been before and I saw nine swans, some mergansers and ducks on the other side of the river.
When I was near the end of the trail by the river, I saw some ducks and wigeons in the water and on the grass on the side of the river I was on.
Why was the great blue heron on the post?
Why was the seaweed in the grass?
Why were some of the ducks on the side of the river I was on?

This morning I was heading over to dads place, and while I was on my way over there I noticed  that it was really wind, but it was not raining. I also saw a flock of between 20 and 30 ravens gliding on the, and a bunch of them landed in the trees at the edge of the park. I walked over indian river bridge and looked down at the river to see if I saw any thing that looked funny or cool. I did not see any that caught my interest, so I walked the rest of the way to dads place.

Once I got to dads place I went up stairs, and did a few things on the computer. Then dad came home a short time later. I did a few more things on the computer then I went down into my room, and read for a bit. Then I turned on the radio and listened to it till it was lunch time.

Rowan was making noodles for lunch, so she went up and started the water around 11:45am. While I remained in my room listening to the radio. When Rowan said that it was time to eat I went up into the kitchen, and we waited for dad. When we found out that he was still on a call we went into the living room, and started messing around because we were bored. Once dad finally came down we ate lunch.

After lunch I went back up stairs and got on the computer. After I was up there for a few minutes I asked dad if I could go down to the park, and he said yes, so I went  down stairs and got ready and left.

The weather on my way down to the park was nice and miled. There was a nice warm wind blowing, so I did not freeze, and it was not raining, so I did not get wet. I walked out onto the breakwater, and looked around in the rocks to see what I could find. I found where some river otters had been hanging out, and I also found a few new species for the year. There were also a bunch of black turnstones and surfbirds on sage rock since it was high tide.

Once I got down to the park I went strait into the forest, and started working my way to the end of the park.

It had started to rain by the time I had gotten to the end of the park. It was not raining hard though, so that was nice. I stayed in the  forest, and worked my way up to the estuary since I had not see anything really all that interesting.

Once I got to the estuary I looked through my binoculars and saw that the male eurasian wigeon was close to the bank on the other side, so I walked around to the other side. By the time I got over there though the male eurasian wigeon had moved out a little further. I was unable to get pictures of the male eurasian wigeon, but I did see a spotted sandpiper, and got some pictures of it.

Once I got home I went and did the dishes, and then went up stairs and got on the computer and started doing my blog.

When I was by the harbor, it was really windy and I had to put my head down to make sure my hood wouldn’t blow off.
When I was by sage beach, I saw some sea gulls flying around by the rocks.
When I was in the park, I saw some varied thrushes on the trail and in the bushes. I also heard a squirrel in the forest somewhere.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was high tide. It didn’t seem as windy at the battle site bench as it had by the harbor.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw two swans, some ducks and some wigeons on the other side of the river in the water. I also saw some Goldeneyes, and they flew off when I stopped to look around.
When I was on my way back home, I went out on the breakwater briefly.
Just after I got off the breakwater, I saw some wigeons on the side walk, and they flew off when I walked by.
Why were the wigeons on the side walk?
Why was it so windy today?
Why does there seem to be a lot of varied thrushes around lately?

This morning I woke up to it poring down rain outside. I got up and got dressed around 9:15am. I then waled up the stairs to the kitchen at Rowan to see what she was doing up so early in the morning. I then walked up the stairs and into the kitchen and ate breakfast with Rowan then went back down to my room.

Once back in my room I turned on the radio to listen to radio program that is only on on Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings. I sat there and listened to the radio while I read some. Mean while Rowan had left for her outside time just after breakfast because we were going to skype with our grams and grandpa around 11:00 or 11:30am. The radio show ended at just after 10:00am, and Rowan got home about 15 minutes later completely drenched.

I went up stairs a short time later and got the computer. I did some stuff on the computer, and then it was time to skype with grams and grandpa. We skyped with them for about an hour then it was time for Rowan to make lunch. Rowan and I had grilled cheese sandwiches and Dad had hash (which is in this case was sweet potatoes and deer burger).

After lunch I left for the park.It was still poring down rain outside, and it had turned all the snow out there in to slush, and which made it a pane to walk out there because it was, so slippery.

The wind was howling on my way down to the park, ad that with the fact that it was raining cats and dogs out there, and it made it not very nice out.

I walked down by the harbor, and on the entrance to the park. Once I got to the park visitor center I saw that there were a bunch of mew gulls and a few other larger gull floating on the water at the very top of the beach. They appeared to be getting some thing off the top of teh water, but I’m not sure what it was, also every time a big wave came and started to break the gulls would flew up and land on the other side of the wave.

Once I had gotten inside the forest it was not that bad out, but by then I was already drenched.

I worked my way down to the end of the park. I did not see any birds or mammals down there all I did see down there was high wind and waves along with a lot of rain, so I walked on up to the estuary. I saw a couple of swans and some ducks, but nothing else, and so I walked on home.

Once I got home I took my wet stuff off, and went up stairs and got on the computer, and started righting this blog.
