A Wild Life

Today when I went down to the park, it was sunny with some clouds.
When I was out on the breakwater, I saw a Kingfisher dive into the water and then fly back out. I also saw some ducks and sea gulls.
When I was on my way back from the end of the breakwater, I saw one duck by the science center.
When I was at the beginning of the park trail, I saw some varied thrushes and a song sparrow in the snow.
When I was in the park, I saw a red breasted sapsucker on the trunk of a tree. I also heard some kinglets.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was low tide, and I saw some sea gulls and crows.
When I was on the trail by the trail by the river, I saw some ducks and swans.
When I was on the trail by the river, I didn’t see any birds.
When I was on my way back home, on the trail by sage beach, I saw ducks, and a great blue heron out by the water.
Why did the Kingfisher dive into the water?
Why was there only one duck by the science center?
Why does it seem like the birds hang out more by the end of the river when it’s low tide?

Last night after I had written my blog I went down stairs and we had dinner.

After we had dinner we got ready and went out to Starrigavan to look for owls (I had gotten a spot light in the mail earlier in the day).

Once we got out there I got out of the car and stood there listing while dad whistled to try to call for the owls. A short time later we heard a couple of owls calling back and forth to each other. I looked around with my spot light to see if I could see the owls. It took quite a while but I was finally to find one of the owls. We walked closer to the owl and I kept the spot light on the owl and we took some photos of it. We watched it for a little while then it was getting late, so we went back to the car and headed home.

Once we got home I got ready and went to bed.

The next morning I got up got dressed and ate some breakfast then went up and got on the computer, and did some stuff on the computer. A while later Rowan made lunch and we went down stairs into the kitchen and we ate lunch.

After lunch I went up Gavan hill and wondered around for a little while to see what I could see. I saw a lot of deer tracks and tried to follow some of them but I was unable to find any deer. When I was done up Gavan hill I headed home.

Once I got home I got onto the computer for a little while then I went down into my room for a little while. A short time later dad told me that the Virgina rail was still down at the lake, so I went down there to look for it.

Once I got down there I looked around in the snow for the rails tracks. I found some tracks from either the rail or a snipe or both. I walked up the edge of the swamp a little ways and looked around and while I was looking around at the tracks in the snow I saw a snipe get up and fly. A short time later I saw another bird get up and fly and I thought to my self that that looked like the rail. I saw had seen ruffly where it had landed, so I walked up in the brush and just sat down and waited and a few minutes later I saw the rail come down off a hill and then fly back down to where it had come from. I walked back down there and stood there and watched and waited for the rail to show its self. After I while I got another glims of the rail but it disappeared again. It did this several more times until it was time for me to go do my paper route so I left.

Once I got home I left to do my paper route.

Once I was done with my paper route I went up and got on the computer and started doing my blog.

This morning I got got dressed watched some TV ate some breakfast while watching TV then I got ready and left for dads place.

It was sunny and cold out. When I was on my way to dads place I stopped and looked over the bridge to see if the otter was down in the pool below the bridge. I did not see it so I went onto dads place.

Once I got there I went up stairs and got on the computer for a little while. Then I went down stairs (after I was done on the computer) and did some stuff in my room for a little while.

A while later it was time to eat lunch. Rowan had made the lunch this time, so I  came up out of my room and went into the kitchen, and sat at the table with Rowan and waited for dad to come down stairs and eat. Once he was in the kitchen we ate lunch.

After lunch I went into my room for a few minutes then I got my trail camera and went up Gavan hill to set it up.

On my way up the trail I saw some deer tracks that had been made with in the last day or so (since I had been up there the day before last and had not seen the tracks). I went off the trail and started following them through the deep snow. They went up and around through a kind of muskegy area. Then they intersected with another set of what looked like fairly fresh tracks and I was temped to follow the other set of track (since they did not appear to be doing small loops every so often and going through thick trees branches and brush) but something told me to stay on the set that I had been following, so I did and a little while later I had gotten to a creek in the edge of the forest and I was getting ready to creek it when I heard some crashing in the brush just a little ways away. I looked up and few a few seconds I saw a big deer moving through the semi out forest. I watched it go up a small hill then disappear into the forest. I then crossed the creek and went to look for it’s tracks. I was able to find them and I was able to follow them for a little while, but I was never able to catch back up to the deer. I followed the tracks around and then I ran into a spot where I was not sure where the fresh tracks went because there were other tracks around there. I had gotten on a set of tracks that I thought might have been fresh from the deer that I saw, but if they were the deer had just done one big loop because I ended up back where I had first seen the deer, so I just went and set up my trail camera and headed home.

Once I got home I when up stairs and did a few things on the computer for a little while then I left to do my paper route.

When I was on my paper route I saw and took some pictures of a river otter just below the road bridge. After I was done with my paper I headed home.

Once I got home I did some stuff in the living room then I went p stairs and did a few things on the computer then I started doing this blog.

Today when I went down to the park for the first time today, it was sunny and cold.
When I was out on the breakwater, I saw some ducks and sea gulls. It was also a little windy which made it colder.
When I was in the park, I saw some varied thrushes in the trees and on the ground.
When I was near the battle site bench, I saw some squirrels on the ground and it looked like they were chasing each other.
When I was at the battle site bench, I saw some sea gulls.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw some geese, ducks, a gadwall and some swans on the other side of the river.
When I was nearing the end of the trail by the river, I saw two swans and a couple of ducks on the side of the river, I was on near the ice. I could hear the ice cracking as they moved around.
When I was on my way back home, I heard and saw some juncos and starlings. I also heard the red winged blackbird in a tree and I looked for it but I didn’t see it.
Where was the red winged blackbird in the tree?
Why were two of the swans on the side of the river I was on by the thin ice?
Why were the squirrels chasing each other?

This morning I got up got dressed ate some breakfast watched some TV while I was eating breakfast then I got ready and left for dads place.

On my way to dads place I stopped by and got my trail camera that I had set up on a stop where I knew an otter was hanging out at. I looked to see if there were any thing on the SD card and it looked like there were some things on there. I could not watch the videos till I got on the computer at home, but I could see how many videos were on the SD card.

Once I got home I went up stairs to look at the videos on the SD card and do a few other things.

Once I got on the computer I put the SD card in and looked at the videos. Most of the videos were of the river otter, but I did get a video of a varied thrush and I also got one video of a feral cat.

After that Rowan made lunch and we went down stairs and ate lunch.

After lunch I went up Gavan hill and looked around to see if there was a spot that I might want to set up my trail camera. While I was looking around in the forest for a spot to set up the camera I found some semi old deer tracks and I also found a couple of semi old deer bed.  The deer tracks that I was following led to the beds.

After I looked at the beds I went up into a different spot in the forest and looked around a bit. When I was on my way out of the part of the forest I found some blood in the snow at the base of a tree. I did not see any tracks by the blood, but there was quite a bit of bark at the base of the tree. I looked at the blood for a few minutes then I crossed the frozen bog and started my way up the hill on the other side. As I was working my way up the I found a few more drops of blood at the base of a tree. There was only three or four drops, but there was no bark on the snow. I went up the hill a little further and ran into a few more drops of blood at the base of a tree. I looked looked around a little bit and found some more drops of blood at the base of some trees. As I looked I noticed that the more bark that was at the base of the trees the more blood there was, but I also noticed that there were no tracks at the base of the trees where the blood was, and there was also no feathers or hair at the base of the trees where the blood was, and in all but one spot the blood was a the base of a tree, and all the blood was frozen

After I had looked at the blood for a bit I started my way back and I found some tracks in the snow that I thought might be marten tracks. They looked to big to be a squirrel and they did not look like the cats tracks that were up there. They started at the base of one tree and ended at the base of another tree. The way the tracks were placed was it looked like the heals of the two hind feet were pointed outward and the toes of the two hide feet were together, and the two front feet about six inches in front of the hind feet and an inch or two apart. All the tracks that I saw were like this and there was about a foot in between each set of tracks.

After I was done up on Gavan hill I headed home.

Once I got home I went up on the computer and did some stuff until it was time to do the paper route then I left to do the paper route.

When I was walking out to the end of the breakwater, I saw a great blue heron flying, and I also heard it.
When I was out at the end of the breakwater, I saw some sea gulls, crows and ducks.
When I was on the sidewalk by sage beach, I saw some more ducks and some harlequins out in the water.
When I was nearing the battle site bench, I saw one varied thrush, on a log by the trail looking at me. When I got closer, it hopped out onto the beach.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was a little windy and it saw sort of low tide. When I was standing there, I saw some sea gulls.
When I was on the trail by the trail by the river, I saw some swans and sea gulls.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw two geese and some ducks and mergansers.
When I was near the end of the trail by the river, I saw that there was ice over the grass by the trail I was on, like the water had frozen when the tide was in and when it went out, it left the ice.
When I was on my way back home, I heard some crows.
Why was the great blue heron flying?
Why didn’t the ice go out with the tide?
Why were there only two geese?

Today when I went down to the park for the first time today, it was sunny and could.
When I was out on the breakwater, I saw some ducks and sea gulls out in the water. I also saw a great blue heron by the water but it flew off just after I saw it.
When I was nearing the park, I saw a raven with something in its beak. I watched it and as I was watching it, I heard something and turn to look, it was another raven that was on a fallen tree.
When I was in the park, I saw some varied thrushes in the bushes. I also heard some chickadees in the trees.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was low tide, and I saw some crows and sea gulls on the breach out by the water.
When I was by the trail by the river, I saw some swans, crows, sea gulls, ducks and geese.
When I was near the end of the park, I saw two squirrels on two different trees, alarming.
What did the raven have in it’s beak?
Why were the two squirrels alarming?
Why is it cold even though it’s sunny sometimes?

I got up this morning ate some breakfast after I had gotten dressed that is then I went up gavan hill to get my trail camera and move it to where there had been a river otter hanging.

It was sunny and very cold when I left to go get the trail camera.

I  crossed the road and as I walked down the other side I ran into some friends that were going skying. They were going to go skying by were I was going, so I walked and talked with them for a little while then they turned around and went a different way and I went on to get my trail camera.

Once I got the camera I headed to where I was going to set it.

Once I got there I looked around for the best spot to set it. Once I got it set up I headed back home.

Once I got home I went down into my room for a little while. Then I went up onto the computer for a few minutes. Then I went down stairs to get lunch started.

Once lunch was ready dad and Rowan went to the kitchen. Once we were ready to eat we ate lunch.

After lunch I went over to the airport for a little while.

On my way over to the airport the wind was blowing over the bridge but I dealt with it.

Once I got over the bridge I walked to the airport then I walked around alice island loop then I walked back across the bridge headed up to the lake then home.

Once I got home I went down into my room for a little while and did a few things. Then I went up stairs and did a few things for a little while then I went down stairs and started working on my stuff that that I needed to got done. Then I went back up stairs and got on the computer and did a few more things then started working on the blog.

1. Question will I have anything on the trail camera when I got and check it on monday?
2. Question why did I not see many birds when I was over at the airport?
3. Question why was there still a bunch of snow on the ground even though it was sunny out?

Today when I went down to the park for the first time today, there was even more snow on the ground and it was partly cloudy.
When I was near the house, I saw a bunch of robins in someone’s yard.
When I was nearing the harbor, I heard and eagle and saw a raven flying.
When I was out on the breakwater, I saw some sea gulls and ducks.
When I was almost to the battle site bench, I saw a goose out in the water, and I also saw some sea gulls and ducks.
When I was at the battle site bench, it was low tide, and I saw some sea gulls.
When I was on the trail by the trail by the river, I saw some ducks and swans and sea gulls. I also heard a eagle in the trees somewhere.
When I was on the trail by the river, I saw some ducks and mergansers.
When I was on my way back home, I heard a Red winged blackbird near where I saw all the robins when I was on my way to the park, and the robins were still there. I looked for the Red winged blackbird. Once I saw it I took some photos of it until a starling scared it off, I was looking into my camera screen so I didn’t see where it flew.
Why was the goose all on its own?

This morning I got up ate some breakfast watched some TV got dressed then left to go to dads.

It was snowing pretty hard when I got out side, and it looked like it had snowed some more since the night before. I walked through the snow that was several inches deep then I walked down the road to a sidewalk and walked on it all the way to dads place.

Once I got there I went inside dropped some of my stuff off then went back outside and started plowing snow. I plowed part of the drive way first so that if dad needed to go some where before I was done he could. After I had gotten the front half of the drive way and the entire sidewalk in front of our house plowed I went inside and did a few things for a bit. Then I went back out there and started plowing again.

After I had finished plowing snow I went down into my bed room and did some stuff for a bit then Rowan got home after do her outside time and said that there was a red winged blackbird down the road, so I got got ready and went down there road to look for it.

I walked down the road to the street where Rowan said it was. I looked around for a few minutes then I found. I got a few pictures of it then it disappeared. I heard it a few minutes later singing and calling down the street a little ways, so I walked down there and found it again. I took some photos of it then I went home.

After I was home for a bit dad wanted me to go down the road and look to see if it was still down there and let him know if it was. He was on a call so he was not sure if he could leave to go look for it. I did not find it and started walking back to the house. On my way back though I saw dad and we walked down a different road to see if the blackbird was down it. We walked a little ways then we say a pine grosbeak and a few minutes later the blackbird flew into the same group of trees that the grosbeak was in, so dad got both the blackbird and the pine grosbeak. After that we walked home.

Once we got home I started making lunch. I was making a caseodea. Once it was done we ate lunch then I went up stairs and got on the computer. I did some stuff on it for a bit then I went down to the park, but before I left I went out and measured the snow (in a place were it had not been disturbed at all since it had started snowing just a few days ago) and it was nine inches deep. After that I left for the park.

On my way down to the park I walked along the harbor out onto the breakwater then headed for the park.

Once I got to the entrance of the park I walked into the forest and headed for the end of the park.

I  walked along the top of the beach for some of the way, but once I got to the mouth of the river I walked back into the forest and walked up the river on the trail. I looked in the estuary and saw a bunch of mallards a few swans a few american wigeons one eurasian wigeon a few gadwalls and some common mergansers. After that I walked up the river to the road then home.

Once I got home I went up on the computer did a few things then left to do my paper route.

Once I got back from my paper route I went up stairs and got on the computer and started doing my blog.
