I’m glad you look my picture.
I love you mom.
Hello Connor,
I am a friend of your fathers. We met in a class called WildLore. We were learning about how to better observe wildlife and life in general around us. It was a lot of fun taking the class.
I am very pleased to see your beautiful pictures of the mallard and the gull. I live in Pennsylvania. It is a lot farther south than where you live. We also have Mallard ducks in Pennsylvania. One time, I had a Mallard duck nest right outside my front door under a very dense shrub. The dogs would run by it every day and never saw the female mallard sitting on the nest. I wonder if she didn’t have any scent, so the dogs did not detect her. The eggs eventually hatched and she took the ducklings across the busy street to live in the little creek. Two of the eggs did not hatch. I cleaned them out by putting two small holes in each end and blowing the yoke out of the eggs. They are about the same size as chicken eggs but they are a very pale blue. Do you see Mallards all year round where you live? I think some stay here all winter, but now that i say that i will to check and be sure. Do they nest in Alaska?
It is interesting that you say the leaves are changing color where you live. Here they have all changed colors and most have fallen to the ground. Do live near the coast of Alaska so the ocean gives you warmer weather than the land that is farther away from the coast?
I think it is pretty cool that even though we live in different parts of the USA that tonight we will all get to see the full moon that is just beginning to wane.
I look forward to reading more of your stories. Your pictures are very helpful and beautifully drawn.
Take care,
Cindy
