This morning when I went down to the park, it was a bit cloudy and all the snow had melted off.
Since it was still a little cold out, I decided to wear my coat, though I got a bit hot on my way back after the sun had come out.
I left a bit after Connor did and ran into him at the top of the hill before the road that I cross to get to the harbor. He had stopped to take some photos of two purple finches that he saw because on was singing.
I only stuck around for a few moments and he went behind me, and then moved in front after I stopped because he was following me.
When I got to the battle site bench, there was a seagull on the trail side of it and it moved closer to the beach off to the side on some dead grass when I came closer.
I sat down and watched it for a bit and just when I was about to leave, Connor walked up the trail and I pointed it out to him.
We figured that it had gotten chased by an eagle or hit a tree and was a little dazed. Connor scared it a bit to see if it could still fly, and it seemed like it could, but it only moved a little ways into the beach.
Just after the battle site bench where Connor walked out onto the beach, I saw three chickadees on the trail, one was pulling on some fuzz that I later saw was some dog hair.
I stopped to watch them, and as I was watching, the first one pulling on the fuzz flew into the salmonberry bushes and another one pulled on the fuzz briefly.
They all eventually went into the bushes, only occasionally landing back on the trail. Just before I continued, one landed behind me for a few moments.
