On Sunday I walked down to the park and looked around. I saw a couple of Trumpeter Swans and some mallards and other ducks. When I looked through some Wigeons that were out there, as I looked through them I saw one with a bit more red/brown head then the others around it and it looked like a female Eurasian Wigeon that spent the winter here last year. I took some photos and looked at when I got home and saw that it was a Eurasian Wigeon.
On Monday When Grandpa and I got home from hunting (we did not get anything but we did see one deer) Dad told me that Rowan had seen the Purple Finch again so I went out to look for it.
I walked around the neighborhood looking for it. As I walked Jeff Davis Street I saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk go down into a tree after some birds but it did not look like it got on. As I walked up to try to get photos of it I saw a small warbler take off out of a little bush by the sidewalk and go across the road to some bushes on the other side. I crossed the road and looked for the warbler I found it in some small Hemlock trees and I got some photos of it and it looked like a Wilson’s warbler. As I walked back towards home I saw a bird in a big Spruce tree that did not look right. It was about the size of a junco but the coloring looked off so I looked through my bino’s at it and saw that it was the Purple Finch. I got my camera snapped off a few quick photos then texted dad about it. Just after I texted dad as I was going to try to get some more photos of it it flew away. As I was turning around to watch where it went I saw a medium size gray bird sitting in tree I way about to raise my camera to see what it was when it took off and I saw that it was an adult Northern goshawk. And by the time turned back to look for the Finch it was gone. I walked down in the direction where I had seen it flew but I did not fine it, so I went home.
Later this week dad told me about a Canvasback at the lake I walked down there to look. The lake was partly frozen over but I saw the Canvasback. I took some photos of it then I looked through the gulls, and I found two immature Glaucous gull so I took some photos of them. CanvasbackGlaucous Gull
