Wildfire

Yesterday when we were head back from the farm, there was a thunderstorm and it was rainy with strong winds on the first part of our drive, then it just turned to wind.
After a while Grams and I started seeing what we guessed was sand, but when we got closer I started thinking that it might be smoke from a fire.
When we were near Glenns ferry we started seeing trucks getting off the road, and then we saw that it was a fire.
grams considered getting off the road, but there wasn’t anyplace to get off so we just drove through.
Connor and Grampa had gone ahead though we weren’t sure abut that untill Grams called and they told us they were already through the smoke and fire.
Before we fully entered the smoke and for a little while after we entered the smoke, I had lifted part of my coat over my mouth and nose nervously and I was tense. There were cars coming back on the right side of the road on the part where you’re not supposed to be on unless it’s an emergency and there were cars coming through of the other side of the freeway.
When we were in the smoke, we drove slowly behind a truck, and going through the smoke with the fire on both sides of the road was scary and cool at the same time.
We had the fan on and I realized that that might be where the smoke was getting into the car from, so I asked Grams when she was done talking to Connor or Grampa if I should turn it off (by that time, I could see the smoke coming from the air vents), one of us did turn it off, I cant remember which one.
The largest bit of fire I saw was on the left side of the road burning in the middle between where the other cars were going the other direction. When we were near that fire, it sort of felt like it was getting a bit hotter in the car to me.
Near the end of the fire, the land was black and in some parts it was smoking a whole lot and there was still small fires going.
After we got through the fire we stopped by the pickup and Grampa and Connor came out to talk to us.
I asked Connor if he had gotten photos, because I hadn’t, he said he had.
I was glad that we all had made it through alright.
