It was nice and sunny when I walked to dads place this morning.
Once I got there I went up stairs and did a few things on the computer. Then around 9:40 I got ready and left for the Middle school.
I was heading to the middle school because they were doing discover your potential week aka DYP week, and I had agreed to help out with a birding class.
They do DYP week every two years I helped out with the same class the last time they did it, so two years ago, and it was my first time doing anything like that.
Once I got to the middle school I signed in at the front desk then I went down to the class room. Since I had gotten there a little early and there was a class in session that I was not helping out with I waited out in the hall way, and looked at the art work, and stuff that was out there until the class was over. Once the class was over I went in the class room and waited a few minutes for the teacher that I was helping to arrive.
Once the teacher had arrived we wait a few minutes for all the students to get there then we headed out of the school and for path of hope.
We walked around path of hope for a little bit then we walked down to the channel since we still had time left before we need to be back at the class room. After we got back to the class room the students went off to there next class or lunch, and I went home.
Once I got home I went up stairs and got on the computer (since it was not time to eat yet) I did a few things and when it was time to eat I went down stairs and we got ready to eat and then we ate lunch.
After lunch I went down to the park to look around.
It was sunny when I left for the park the wind had picked up a little bit though. I walked down along the harbor, and then along the sea walk, and made my way to the park.
Once I got to the entrance of the park I headed for the end of the park. On my way there I found a little moth and looked at it and took some photos of it.
Once I had gotten out there I walked down on to the beach and looked at the gulls that were out there. I then went back up and got on the trail and worked my way up the trail towards the indian river road bridge.
On my way up to the road bridge I saw a big tree that had fallen across the river a month or so ago. I climbed up on to the trunk of the tree and started crossing the river. Just a little over half way across every thing went wrong I found a little orange lichen. I took some photos of the little orange lichen then I finished walking the log and got off on the other side of the river. I walked up the river bank and got on the road bridge then walked home.
Once I got home I went up on the computer did a few things left to show dad where the moth was then we came back and I finished what I was doing then I started working on this blog.
- Question What happened to make the tree fall?
- Question why was there a chain wrapped around the base of the tree.
- Question why had people cut the tree trunk so that it was no longer attached to its roots?
So what birds did the class students see and where they able to identify them or did you tell them what they saw?
What went wrong in the middle of the log when you were crossing the river?

We saw a few different song birds some juncos a song sparrow of gulls long tailed ducks kinglets. A little of both I told them some and they new some already. I found a lichen on the log so I had to stop thats what went wrong.
Wouldn’t finding a lichen on the log be something good that happened not something wrong? Or was the lichen way out of place — doesn’t usually grow on logs?
