On the 19 teenth of December I was out looking for the purple finch I was almost finished with the neighborhood walk when I heard a woodpecker call, so I looked in the trees that were close to me. I found it in a mountain ash tree by where I was standing. It was a downy woodpecker witch I had seen before but never got photos of it or got this close to it. I it ended up being about two feet away from me witch was exciting. On December 17 I was coming down the stairs, and looked out the window , and saw rat out at our bird feeder eating the bird food. I got good photos of the rat it was the first rat I had ever seen, so it was exciting to see. On December 20 I was going to the lake, and on my way I saw a junco chase a robin, so I went over there to see where they went, and when I got over there look on the ground, and and saw a bird, and thought that not a starrling that was when I relized that it was a rusty blackbird witch was a first for me,so that was also exciting to see, and get photos of. On December 23 when I was coming back from being up gaven hill I saw anther downy woodpecker this time I got better photos of it. Todays two downy woodpecker photos first downy woodpecker photos rusty blackbird rat

I hadn’t realized there were woodpeckers that are black and white. Are they regular visitors in Sitka?
grams
yes but you don’t see them very much in town.
