Today when Rowan, and I went to look for bohemian waxwings. When we were getting near the spot that normily has the waxwings at it I saw a strange looking bird in the persons yard. I told Rowan that there was a strange looking bird that had two white stripes. One went over it eye and one went under its eye. It flew from a unbrella shaped tree to a nor shaped tree and I maniged to get four photos of it before it flew away. It was the first purple finch reported in Sitka Alaska, so it was very exciting to be the one to see it. It was a female purple finch.

That is a very exciting find! I hope you get to see it again. Do you think it might come to your bird feeder? Where does it normally live?
