Yesterday I got my first ruffed grouse. I got it with my Ruger Blackhawk Elite .177 caliber break barrel pellet gun. Yesterday Grandpa Rick and I went up by Donnelly. We went up this one old logging road, and it has some side roads that we went on, and one of them had a rabbit on it, but it was behind a big rock so I was unable to shoot it. When we got up the road a bit further, I saw a ruffed grouse under a spruce tree. It flew a little ways, then it sounded like it landed not very far away so I went down the hill. I found a ruffed grouse, but I didn’t get it. On our way back down we went through a bushy area. Rick was above me, and grandpa was below me. Grandpa said there went a grouse over the fence so we couldn’t go get it, but grandpa said that there might be another grouse. We took about five steps and two more ruffed grouse flew up. One flew into a tree, and one flew a little ways and landed on the ground. I went up to see if I could find it, and I did. I took three shots at it and missed, then it flew over the fence. I went and looked to see if I could find the one in the tree, and I did find it finally. I shot it once and got it in the body, and it just fell out of the tree. I’m so happy that I got a grouse finally.
