A remark about the data that was used to generate these figures:
Marge Ward and Marlys Tedin have been recording the species they have seen each day since 1980. They simply record a checkmark for each day when a species is observed. Counts were not typically included, unless they seemed notable for some reason. These records are constrained by Marge and Tedin's birding abilities and habits. The records reflect almost exclusively observations along the Sitka road system and its beaches. Species which are reasonably common in the area may not look like it in these figures if their habits kept them from being observed easily during Marge and Tedin's bird walks. The seabirds, owls, and ptarmigan are the most obvious of these types of species. There are also some gaps due to missing records or periods of time when Marge and Tedin were on vacation.

These figures are preliminary. The data still needs to be verified in some cases, but I thought people might be interested in seeing at least the more common species (in which case any corrections are likely to be minor). I also think it will be interesting to see what has happened in the 6 years of data not yet included.

In the upper part of each figure, black dots indicate that the species was observed at some point during the 7 days represented. In the lower part of each figure, a rough indication of the likelihood of observing the species during a given week is given by the shading of the dot.
