Sitka Nature Show #332 – Kitty LaBounty

Ring-necked Ducks

Featuring a conversation with Kitty LaBounty. We spoke about Christmas Bird Count experiences in Sitka and Arizona and the Continental MycoBlitz, including potentially new-to-science species from Southeast Alaska. Other topics included the Alaska Native Plant Society, Kitty’s on-going work to put together a flora of Southeast Alaska, and how we learn to recognize plants and other residents we share this place with.

Sitka Nature Show #329 – Rowan Goff

Galium Hawkmoth Caterpillar (Hyles gallii)

Featuring a conversation with Rowan Goff. She has grown up in Sitka, and since she was small has enjoyed finding animals (especially small ones) and sharing what she’s found with her family. We each shared about some of our nature observations around Sitka. These included a coho salmon sighting in Indian River, well-worn otter trails, bird nests, and insects of various sorts and stages of life.
