Sunny Day with Kids
It was a pleasant sunny day. The kids spent time down at the beach this morning, bringing back a starry flounder for me to photograph. This afternoon we walked over to UAS.
Signs of Spring
The Dolly Varden have started to show up near the beaches again. Rowan and Connor have been fishing for them this week, and Rowan managed to catch a 14″ Dolly (her first) this morning. Herring – spawning, fishing, weather, and catch
Herring spawning was taking place at Sage Beach. Connor joined the gulls in trying to take advantage of the opportunity, and managed to come home with several fish.
Herring Cove Trail
The kids and I went up Herring Cove Trail to the Bear Mountain Waterfall viewpoint again today. There was some snow on the trail, though not much ice remains compared to how it was last month. The picture was taken as we made our way down near the top of the steep section.
Swan Lake and Skunk Cabbage
The kids and I had time to stop by Swan Lake after lunch today. Two juvenile Trumpeter Swans are still spending most of their time on the lake, though the adults they wintered with seem to have moved on.
After stopping by Marge and Tedin’s to start getting caught up on several weeks of cards, I noticed some Skunk Cabbage up and getting ready to bloom – the first I’ve seen this year.
