On a Lifelong Journey to Learn my Place
As far as I know, Oysterleaf (Mertensia maritima) only grows in one location along the road system (where I suspect it was probably initially a transplant). I stopped to photograph it blooming and also got pictures of Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) growing along the roadside.
Noticed this ground beetle (Scaphinotus angusticollis) making its way across the moss at the upper end of Beaver Lake while hiking around the loop.
On the way down from taking Julien and Laurent up Harbor Mountain road, we stopped to look at some vegetation along the road.
The kids and I were able to go out to Dog Point to help with some smoked salmon. While there, Rowan found a beetle for me to photograph.
Pink Salmon are back in at the Sheldon Jackson Hatchery, and Connor is excited to catch them. Today he brought home two.
The kids and I took a walk down to Indian River – got some photos of a freshwater sponge we found, as well as some plants other animals along the way.
