Rowan caught a caddisfly along the lower part of Gavan Hill trail and carried it home for me to photograph. Later in the day I took some pictures of plants at Blue Lake Campground. In particular, I was interested to see how much the buds of Ribes plants had already developed. It seemed a bit early to me for that.

Despite the damp and cool weather, I was inspired to take pictures of several bryophytes, mushrooms, and a lichen on a short visit to Blue Lake Campground.

Totem Park on a Rainy Sunday
Marge Ward told me she saw a Golden Eagle at the park this morning, so I braved the rain to see if it was still around. I just found a young juvenile Bald Eagle. There were Pholiota mushrooms in abundance on a fallen alder where I had seen them a couple of years ago (prior to it falling).
Indian River Valley on a Wet Day
Went for a hike up Indian River valley to take care of the ibuttons. It was a very soggy day. Found a couple of things that prompted me to pull out the camera despite the abundance of rain – a common plant in an unusual (for it) location, and a fungus I don’t remember having seen before.
