Totem Park on a Rainy Sunday
Marge Ward told me she saw a Golden Eagle at the park this morning, so I braved the rain to see if it was still around. I just found a young juvenile Bald Eagle. There were Pholiota mushrooms in abundance on a fallen alder where I had seen them a couple of years ago (prior to it falling).
Indian River Valley on a Wet Day
Went for a hike up Indian River valley to take care of the ibuttons. It was a very soggy day. Found a couple of things that prompted me to pull out the camera despite the abundance of rain – a common plant in an unusual (for it) location, and a fungus I don’t remember having seen before.
Rose Rust
Rust (Phragmidium sp) on rose plants in the neighborhood.
Mystery Fungus
Pictures of a fungus collected at the recent bioblitz in Juneau. It so far has proved to be a stumper, with even experienced mycologists not recognizing it, despite it’s distinctive coarse hair-like appearance.
