Spring

Last week I saw the first bumblebees for this year. Herring are spawning (we caught some from shore yesterday at HPR). Salmonberries with good sun exposure are blooming. The blueberries have been blooming for some time. Wild cucumber (twisted stalk) is coming up. Varied thrushes have been actively singing for the last week or two.

Robins

Saw a flock of robins on campus today. Looked like there 20 or 30 of them. I do not remember seeing any robins at all last winter. These are the first robins I have seen since summer. I wonder if they are migrating through or will be resident in the area this winter.
