Gray Day Brightened

Overcast to mostly cloudy with showers throughout the day. Light to moderate winds. Temperatures into the 40s. The sun appeared between showers at times this afternoon.

I was up on the early side to do the morning interview on Raven Radio. I’ll be a naturalist on the fundraising boat trip next Saturday, and the interview was intended to help get the word out.

I also had a call this morning, and drove around checking some bird spots while on it.

I did not see anything unexpected while out, but I wasn’t trying too hard.

Ravens on Light Posts

I did stop to get photos of ravens arranged on light posts at the parking lot for Eliason Harbor. They weren’t quite as I first saw them, but I captured what I could. Initially there were more of them arranged on each of the light posts, but something got them all excited and they flew off. Not as many returned.

I spent most of the day working on the report I’ve been writing. After today’s efforts it’s basically complete. I’ll just do some formatting and make a final editing pass before sending it in this weekend.

Unnoticed Bench
A recent conversation with the builder of this bench alerted me to its presence. I hadn’t noticed it, though it’s clearly been there long enough for me to have walked within sight of it many times.

I made a quick visit to the break water early this evening to check the willow this afternoon. It’s still just showing the silvery-gray, with no evidence that I saw of emerging flowers.

Rowan told me she saw moths flying while walking back from her paper route this evening. I guess it’s time to resume my morning and evening checks of the porch light.
