Overcast to mostly cloudy. Moderately windy, especially earlier in the day. Temperatures in the 40s.
The wind picked up late last night and was gusty through much of the night. It looks like rain mostly held off except for a couple of hours this morning.
I have a project I need to finish this week. Based on the forecast, I didn’t expect to be tempted to get out, but for most of the day it looked quite pleasant out.
Though I did spend most of the day working on the project, I made it out for a bit this afternoon.

Earlier this week I published a photojournal from June 2022 that featured a visit to the cascade near the beginning of Herring Cove trail. That reminded me that it’s been several months since I last visited Herring Cove.
Fortunately this time I didn’t drop my phone in the water, but I did make a few observations of liverworts near the cascade.
The cascade itself was running much lower than that June 2022 visit. I didn’t think of it until later, but it might have been a good time to look for the little hollow where the dippers had built their nest.
This evening’s sunset painted the clouds, highlighting undulations and textures that had not been so apparent earlier. A nice close on the final day of winter (astronomically speaking).
