Rainy Sunday

Overcast with light to moderate rain. Light winds, temperatures in the 40s.

I did not spent much time outside, but did get out this afternoon.

North End of the Channel
View of the north end of the channel on an overcast day in Sitka, Alaska

After picking up some food, I watched from the SEARHC overlook of the north end of the channel. I did see a Common Loon, but not much else.

I drove out Halibut Point Road, but enough rain was falling that I did not feel inspired to get out anywhere to look around.

Obscured Islands
Low clouds and rain obscure the islands off Sitka, Alaska

I did stop to watch from the parking lot at Sea Mart.

Raven Feathers
Feathers of a raven observed in Sitka, Alaska

The feathers of a wet raven caught my attention. Conditions were not great for achieving the depth of field I would have liked (especially with the raven moving around). However, it did not stop me from trying. I’ll find out after editing to see if any turn out reasonably to my eye.

Script Lichen (<em>Graphis scripta</em>)

I wanted more satisfying observations than I had yet managed for the day, so despite the continuing rain I did get out and poke around a bit. I found myself at the Cross Trail trailhead at Kimsham Fields. I did not go up the trail, but did observe lichens on alders there.

Last week I surpassed 3500 posts. I forgot to make note of it when it happened. I’m still working on adding posts from the backlog of unpublished entries, plus expected do both consolidation and new-old posting as I work to bring all of my photojournal stuff into a single format and location. After that’s all done, who knows what the 3500th post will be, but for now it was either one of last week’s entries, or one I published from last October (I’m now more than halfway done with that month’s entries).
