Baranof Street Connector Observations

Overcast with temperatures in the 30s and calm winds.

I did not spend much time out today.

A text about the shrike this afternoon prompted me to get moving shortly before I might have otherwise.

It had been near the radio station. It was gone by the time I got there, but it did prompt me to spend more time in those neighborhoods than I might have otherwise.

After a drive out to Starrigavan, I drove slowly through Verstovia and Monastery street neigbhoroods hoping to catch sight of the shrike.

No luck on that front today.

Before going home, I went for a short walk around Baranof Street Cemetery and down to the Cross Trail connector.

I made some observations there, but did not see any birds.

I spent a good chunk of the day working on my website. With some technical support, I was able to implement a way of showing “on this day in” lists of posts. In particular, I’ve now added a “Today in Sitka Nature history” with all the posts from the current calendar day throughout the years. I also started working on pages for each calendar day. This will allow me (and site visitors) to pick a calendar day and see all the posts made on any day of the year they choose. (Now I just need to get all the backlog published and migrate the even older stuff into the current set up.)
