Cloudy with snow showers. Temperatures in the low 30s and upper 20s.
More snow with much smaller breaks in the clouds compared to yesterday.
When I woke up this and moved, I felt dizzy. Apparently something going on with my inner ear. It moderated, but I was left feeling a bit off, and wasn’t sure I would make it out.
In order to make sure I got observations, I stepped outside after lunch to photograph some of the birds that were visiting the feeder. I saw a Fox Sparrow, a Song Sparrow, and many juncos while I watched.
After a short nap, I was feeling better enough to walk down to Swan Lake.
The snow eased up as I was walking, and some nice light broke through.
I was a little surprised at how little activity there was at the lake. The snow was mostly untrammeled, so the ducks probably hadn’t been there during the afternoon. Plenty of open water remained, and I did spot at least one or two Ring-necked Ducks in the distance further up the lake.
A pair of snow angels indicated that I wasn’t the first person out on the peninsula since the bulk of the snow fell.
An Anna’s Hummingbird caught my attention with its calls as I walked by Monastery street. I saw a feeder in a window, and was able to spot the hummingbird in a tree.
The snow is supposed to stop and skies clear overnight, with temperatures getting cold. The coldest time is Friday night and Saturday. Forecast for warming in the subsequent days has backed off a bit, but they’re still calling for it to get to near freezing from Monday on.
