Mostly sunny, becoming overcast late in the day. Frosty morning, with temperatures into the upper 30s. Calm winds.
I had late notice last night of an early morning today.
I was out at Sawmill Cove shortly before 8am.
Broken low clouds skirted the mountain slopes, but clear skies held on up high. I could see wind blowing snow off bear mountain
They had some difficulties and were a little slow getting the first section put in, but eventually made it.
After, we had an extended break while they spliced on the next section.
We were back on observation duty at 1pm, but it ended up being over 2 hours before they were driving again. Part of the delay was waiting for the tide to drop far enough to remove braces they had welded on to support splicing the sections.
It should just be a day and a half or two more days of work.
Birds were less numerous than previous days. The mix of species has been similar, just not so many. Scoters did move over between dock and SMC at times. I haven’t seen them over this way much.
It was after 5pm by the time I was back in town. I had some vehicle shuffling to do, since Connor was due in on the evening flight, but I was planning to be at a concert (Steep Canyon Rangers). I dropped off my car and got a ride back home straight from observing, then later I dropped off his truck and picked up my car.
All in, it was a long day. I think will be nice to have some time soon (when the project is done).
