Fall Market

Mostly cloudy, with showers, heavy at times. Sun came through briefly at times between showers. Thunder and lighting late this morning.

Today’s Made in Sitka didn’t start until 10am, so I didn’t need to get up as early as I have for other markets.

Even so, I was up before 8am to get packed up.

Fortunately showers were timed so that I was able to move my stuff without needing to worry about it getting wet.

Later in the morning, I heard a rumble that sounded like someone rolling heavy objects upstairs. There is no upstairs in the building, so I wondered if it was thunder. I asked people as they stopped by my table, and got confirmation there had been some lightning and thunder.

Prints Sold
Two prints that sold at the fall Made in Sitka market in Sitka, Alaska

The market went well. I did not sell as many prints as I do at the better summer markets, but those are almost all 4×6 prints. Today I sold one 11×17 and two 8×10 prints (revenue-wise, that’s the equivalent of 22 4×6 prints).

I had printed three photo to offer for the first time at this market. One was a doe and fawn, and the other two were similar shots of a small raft of sea otters. All three sold quickly. It’s hard to know what to make of that. It could be just lucky, or it could be they will be popular. I’ll print more for next time.

Rowan came to help me pack up, and we went for a drive afterwards.

Gulls in the Channel

Gulls were gathered up in an odd spot in the channel. They seemed to be going for something. It did not take us long to see a large sea lion throwing a fish around. The gulls were picking at it when it was close enough to the surface for them to get a piece.

While I was out, the weather seemed more tilted toward rain showers with only very minor bits of sun peaking through between them.

Islands and Clouds

I parked at Sea Mart to take a look at the water and then go into the store. Before heading in, we continued a conversation for the better part of an hour. During that time, we didn’t see too much, but there was a Common Loon that came reasonably close. I appreciated the dynamic skies and the changing light.

I still had my radio show to get ready for tomorrow. By the time I got home after that, I was ready to relax and not do much.
