The March 10th show featured a conversation with Jon Shaw, a bryologist at Duke University whose research is currently focused on Sphagnum (peat mosses). This conversation was originally recorded and aired in the summer of 2018 when he was making a short visit to Sitka. We spoke about what makes Sphagnum mosses unique, and the role they play in carbon cycling. Jon also shared about some of the work being done to try and understand what might happen with Sphagnum as the climate shifts.
