Periodic snow showers overnight and through the morning hours. Snow seemed wetter overnight before cooling and becoming fluffier this morning.
Late this morning I got the call that my vehicle was ready.
Connor had an errand to run, so I had him drop me off.
The sun had broken out and I decided to check a few places out while I was already out and about.
Roads were not as bad as I feared they might be. I am not 100% sure, but I think it also helped to have a pair of new front tires.
I saw a couple juncos at Moller Park. I tossed some more seed in the bushes that should be easier for them to get than the stuff under the snow.
I didn’t see the crane, but later heard from Ben H. that it was down at the turnaround.
I chatted briefly with David K. over at Sealing Cove. He had seen lots of juncos but not the Brambling. He told me a Townsend’s Warbler was by the big tree on the SJ campus quad.
Later this afternoon I went down to Etolin Street to see if the Bohemian Waxwing might be there. It was. I also observed a male Anna’s Hummingbird. It came in chattering. It quickly perched on a branch where it continued to chatter. I didn’t notice it visit either of the two feeders before taking off again.
I spent most of the evening working on a 2023 wall calendar featuring bird photos from this year. It’s a bit of an experiment, so I’ve tried to keep it simple. I mostly did pretty well, but still spent a few hours fussing around editing pictures and revising even the small amount of text I am including.
