Overcast, but no significant rain. It was a little breezy this morning, but calm this evening.
I didn’t notice an early morning text from Connor until closer to 9am. He had let me know about a Ring-billed Gull down at the park. When I went and checked, the beach was empty. I also looked at back beach, but nothing was there.
I spent a couple hours watching the channel while I was on a call. At least 50 Glaucous-winged Gulls came in along with at least a couple of Mew Gulls, but I never saw a Ring-billed Gull.
This evening I walked down and around the park. There are a few lingering dabbling ducks, but I didn’t see any shorebirds. I was surprised to see a flock of 30+ scaups (mostly Greater Scaups) near the shore.
I checked the gulls that were out at the end, but they all seemed to be Mew Gulls.
Things have greened up significantly. I know it’s a gradual process, but each year it seems like one day everything is out and up. I suspect that’s partly due to what I’m mostly paying attention to (birds, during spring migration) and if I happen to go a few days without getting out to a particular location or habitat.
