Clouds

I took these cloud pictures last Monday in part because of the interesting fine textures – I assume these tell me something about the winds, but I’m not sure what

Overnight the clouds moved back in. I looked outside this morning to see overcast gray. Temperatures were up to 40 or more, but the frost was still covering the ground in areas that had not seen sun during the previous days of dry weather. By later this afternoon it had started raining.

I didn’t see much of particular interest myself, but did get some reports from other folks – the Marbled Godwit continues (joined by a couple of young swans), swans have returned to Starrigavan, and despite all the ice ducks and at least one coot continue to stay at Swan Lake. It will be interesting to see what comes back as I expect the ice will melt off fairly soon given the forecasts for warmer wetter weather.
