I heard the young blackbirds were probably out of the nest, so I went down to Swan Lake and was able to get a picture of one before they flew out of range.
This evening I noticed a moth flying out at the light that gave the impression of something different. It turned out to be Hydriomena speciosata, a species first reported in the state last August during the bioblitz here in Sitka. It was nice to have one turn up again this year.
