Snow level dropped enough to cover in snow the upper elevations of higher peaks around town.
This moth is probably Ceranemota fasciata, a member of the False Owlet Moth family. I think it was attracted to the bug napper light.
After class at UAS this morning, I enjoyed some interesting interplay between water in the atmosphere and the sunlight. First a broken rainbow to the northwest, then dramatic crepuscular rays to the southeast that I observed from the bridge.
We’ve been catching moths in the bug napper, though the Xylena nupera was one that we got from a caterpillar Connor found. The Steller’s Jays have been coming by to get peanuts and the occasional Yellow-underwing Moth (Noctua pronuba)
