[Show slideshow] Looking down toward the estuary from the Totem Park bridge, Indian River is mostly iced over to salt water. This grove of decent-sized spruces stands out in part due to its lack of understory shrubs. Connor is making his way up the steep slope to the base of the ice formations. Rowan wanted me to take a picture of this chunk of ice she found. This survey marker was not far from the cliffs. Connor sits next to a pile of spruce cones, no doubt collected by an industrious Red Squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus). Connor and Rowan taking a break on a rotting log in the spruce grove.
