Many years by this time, the snow has already started noticably melting on the mountains, but that hasn't been the case this year. If this had been the first spawn of the year, there would have been far more gulls. Since herring had been spawning abudantly elsewhere for at least a couple of weeks, there was less interest in this school. Connor was helping some of the herring that got caught on the falling tide.
