27 March Photos: Spruce Fungi March 6, 2011March 27, 2008 by matt goff This entry is part 48 of 143 in the series 2008 Photojournal [Show slideshow] Although I did not get the photo I was trying for, a severe crop revealed interesting structures that were difficult to see in the dim woods. I'm not sure if this is some sort of mold/fungus or what. The top of this fungus is somewhat reminiscent of Trametes, but I'm not sure if that's what it is, or not. The 'teeth' make this seem different than most polypores. I think this is a Panellus sp, though I've mostly seen those growing on Alder (Alnus spp) before.
