The high pressure system that has extended over the area for the last few days is finally being replaced by a lower pressure system moving in from the southern Gulf of Alaska. Originally the clear and cold temperatures were only supposed to last a couple of days, but they ended up persisting for about a week. The wind is blowing, the skies are now overcast, and there is a chance of snow in the next day or so. (Actually, there appears to be some snow starting to fall currently.) Temperatures are supposed to increase over the next few days with rain by the weekend. It will be interesting to see what happens with the plants that had opened buds before the cold snap.
