As I mentioned in a couple of other entries for today, it’s been pretty cold here. It seems interesting to me that even people who are from places where it gets much colder than it does here, seem to think it feels colder here than it really is. It is almost like it’s a disappointment when they find out it only got down to 15 F. It was cold enough to form ice in the harbor. That may be somewhat misleading due to the freshwater source on the other side of the breakwater. I suspect that the freshwater can penetrate the breakwater and leads to a lower salinity (and presumably a higher freezing point) than regular sea water.
